If you’re looking for a surface that offers softness under hoof, excellent drainage and year‑round usability, 4–20mm equestrian rubber crumb is a dependable choice. This blend of rubber particles creates a cushioned, forgiving surface that helps reduce strain on joints and tendons, making it ideal for schooling arenas, turnout pens, lunging rings and general yard areas.

Made from 100% recycled, wire‑free rubber, it’s clean, safe and designed to perform in real‑world equestrian environments. The mixed particle size (4–20mm) gives a balanced feel; small enough to create a smooth, even surface, but substantial enough to prevent compaction and maintain stability during work.

Rubber crumb is especially useful in wet or heavy‑clay areas where traditional surfaces struggle. It drains quickly, doesn’t freeze solid in winter and helps prevent the deep, sticky mud that can lead to slips and unnecessary strain. It’s also a great way to refresh tired sand arenas, adding cushioning and improving overall ride quality.

Whether you’re resurfacing a full arena or simply trying to keep high‑traffic areas usable through winter, this rubber crumb offers a long‑lasting, low‑maintenance solution.

Coverage Guidance

Coverage varies depending on the base and intended use, but as a general guide:

  • 50mm depth is suitable for turnout areas and general yard use
  • 75–100mm depth is recommended for schooling arenas and more intensive work

For topping up an existing sand surface, you’ll typically need less material

If you’re unsure, we can help you calculate the right amount for your space.

Where This Rubber Crumb Works Best

Customers use 4–20mm equestrian rubber crumb for:

  • Outdoor and indoor arenas
  • Turnout pens and winter paddocks
  • Lunging rings and round pens
  • Walkways, gateways and high‑traffic yard areas
  • Improving compacted or uneven sand surfaces

It’s particularly effective in wet, muddy or high‑wear areas where consistency and drainage matter.
